Building our future, building our youth

The 2022 Law Day theme is “Toward a More Perfect Union: The Constitution in Times of Change.”Support generated as part of the Law Day 2022 Campaign will support all MYLaw youth programs., but I want to highlight the Law Links Summer Internship Program (link here). This program places high school students in law firms and legal offices for a paid 7-week internship. In addition to the invaluable experience, they also participate in an extensive Law and Leadership Institute and receive professional attire to prepare them for future interviews and professional work. A few notable alumni include current Deputy City Solicitor Ebony Thompson, VP for Economic Development for Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Health System Alicia Wilson, and Miles & Stockbridge Association Reginald L. Smallwood.

Every single dollar makes a difference, and no donation is too small. MYLaw is a 501-c3 nonprofit organization that has been in existence since 1978. Our programs include the Law Links Internship, Baltimore City Teen Court, and the High School Mock Trial Competition, in addition to the City Council Page Program, Summer Law Academy and Moot Court Competition. Commemorated annually on May 1, Law Day is an opportunity to celebrate the role of law in our society and to cultivate a deeper understanding of the American judicial system. MYLaw's mission is to do this, every day of the year, through a variety of unique educational programs that foster a deeper understanding of the law, legal system and legal profession - as well as the role of law in our every day lives. It is more important than ever to engage the upcoming generation with the knowledge, resources and tools necessary to interpret and understand role of the law and our Constitution.
